★ John Egbert

FOOL
RANK:

His pretty cute sassy straight friend. He thinks John's pretty naiive, but it hasn't stopped them from becoming best bros. Their relationship has a strong base in pizza, coffee, pancakes and silly conversations. And in Lovi rattling off numbers about things John takes for granted.

☠ Madeline Williams

HIGH PRIESTESS
RANK:

Wow, Lovi really doesn't know how to talk to girls. Maddie is living proof of that. He tends to run out of the room as soon as he sees her now, and when she corners him he just barks and bites until he can run. Not exactly the healthiest relationship.

★ Feliks Łukasiewicz

LOVERS
RANK:

Lovi really doesn't like this one. On top of white-knighting Fai, he had the gall to suggest Lovi doesn't have the right to completely control Feli's life? The nerve! Lovi will be happy and just a bit smug if something horrible happens to him very soon.

★ Amelia Jones

CHARIOT
RANK:

Terrifying evil cannibalistic eagle bitch from hell. But he's not scared of her. Nope. He'll just... tactically retreat from anything she pulls. He likes his liver uneaten, okay?

★ Black★Star

STRENGTH
RANK:

Overconfident Jackass. Unlike Soul, Lovi holds no respect for Black★Star as a person and would appreciate it if he went deaf and mute and ollied off a cliff. However, as a fighter Lovi does look up to him and want to learn his techniques.

★ Feliciano Vargas

HANGED MAN
RANK:

His lousy stupid goddamn adorable supportive little brother. Their relationship is a little strained by the fact that they were separated for about 7 years, but they are still close family with a visible connection even while fighting. Lovi is prone to dragging Feli into his shenanigans and playing Feli's innocence to his advantage, along with his never-ending quest to make Feli conform to society.

★ Soul Evans

DEATH
RANK:

Another one of those friends met through his aimless temper tantrums. Lovi has a great respect for Soul based on the fact that he's a musician, and a good fighter on top of that. He's also asked Soul to help out a bit with Feli.

★ Marrow

DEVIL
RANK:

We don't talk about Marrow.

☠ Fai Flourite

STAR
RANK:

His loving boyfriend for the few months that they could deal with each other. While Fai has greatly expanded Lovi's view of the world, he's still made too anxious by Fai's social personality. They're prone to unnecessary arguments and, while Fai still takes care of him to some extent, he is forced to do so from the sidelines.

★ Emily Kostich

MOON
RANK:

His new best friend. She's adorable, sweet, smart, caring and takes him seriously and he might just be in love. He's playing it cool, though, both because he doesn't want to get hurt and he doesn't want to hurt her. And with powers like his, that's probably a great plan.

So I figured it was best I just had a post by itself explaining what Rovigno basically is.

TW: Lots of headcanons dumped in here, psychological bullshit, mind games, unpopular opinions, etc.

Okay, basically, Rovigno is the result of me playing with Lovino's psyche on hard mode. It's a known fact that you can only play with someone's mind so long before it breaks, and Rovigno is what happens when Lovino's mind is played with for a good while after that point.

Rovigno started back when Lovino came back to the city and found out Feliciano was not only in love with him, but leaving him for Germany. Without any previous memories left of his relationship with Feli, Lovi was forced to questions his feelings for his brother all over again, and alone. And act on them at the same time. And this all while still adjusting to the city itself. So Lovi put himself under a lot more pressure than necessary, and... nations aren't quite built for pressure. That's why they all end up a little loopy.

Feli and Lovi have never really had a healthy relationship from the start, but the pressure of it started crushing Lovi. Half of him wanted to stop and just be brothers, and the other was madly head-over-heels for Feli. The gap between those two kept being stretched; his brother side constantly wanting to tug away and set boundaries and be methodical, and the lover side fearing Germany, needing to be close and just wanting a shameless affair.

This also goes into male psychology; when a man is in love, he tugs away for a while, acts independant, prances around, and then slams back into his lover with a hurricane of affection, uses up all his energy and goes back. That's an exaggerated version, but that's basic male instinct right there from a purely apathetical viewpoint. Unfortunately, when Lovi went to stretch and get his 30 minutes of freedom, Feli got terrified of being left, and Lovi was terrified of scaring Feli. So he never tugged away, and never got his freedom. And the brotherly side of him got pissed.

See, with nations, family bonds aren't necessarily strong. Most countries are not biologically related (unless they are twins) because all nations are born human. The italies are not biological relatives, but being so long to each other and sharing people made them close to identical appearance-wise. Their DNA matches pretty nicely, all that fun stuff. But they don't have the instinctive bond, it was forged because they wanted to have it. When Lovi began to resent Feli, it wasn't quite sibling rivalry. Before long, it turned into roommate resentment, and on to something that isn't quite hatred, but very close to it. Feli has always gotten his way at Lovi's expense, stolen what he wants without noticing. And now he was stealing Lovi's freedom.

There were little things tearing at Lovi's patience. Days when Feli wanted him to do work, or asked him to talk about things, or went on his little autistic "let me tell you about everything I did today without you" rambles, irritated Lovi more and more. His inability to make Feli focus on him or to leave the house without Feli worrying about him were pretty big factors. And the lover's spats continued getting worse and worse, until Lovi started brutally attacking Feli from time to time. The lover part of him was horrified of the transformation, but the brotherly side could not be happier. He was finally wearing Feli down the way he'd been worn down.

I think his advances on Spain were also like that. He used Canada to replace the gap Feli left in his heart, but Spain was mostly to spite Feli. The appeal in Spain is that he cares about Lovi, and will give him space because he knows Lovi likes being independent and coming back when he damn well feels like it. Lovi harbors no romantic attraction to Spain, merely to the idea of Spain; someone who will be there to coddle him when he gets home from doing whatever he wants, and will praise him for everything he does right and ignore anything he does wrong. And most of all, who will let him be himself and not judge him for it. That made a great improvement over Feli's clinginess and suspicion.

Lovi slowly began treating Feli more and more brutally; playing love games with him, having several one-night-stands, and having very irregular, inconsistent behavior. One day he would be bright and chipper and loving, the next he would be irritable and argumentative, just trying to rile Feli up. Worse, he'd spend half of his time coming up with ways to make Feli happy, and the other half coming up with ways to make him suffer. Most notably when he stayed up for several days straight to make Feli a dollhouse, but followed it up with sex and accompanying "by the way, this is a secret, get out of my house".

Lovi's personality didn't really split for a while. The transitions were smooth, and his memories were not separate between the two. It was not until the memory-loss event, when Lovi's reasons for resentment went out the window. He didn't understand why he felt searing pain just from looking at Feli, or why he kept imagining him filled with bullet-holes, and the thoughts just made him strive harder to fall in love with him. Before the memories truly left there was a night where one of their arguments ended what could technically be called Feli abusing Lovi, although dubiously consensual and triggered by Lovi's pestering. Lovi saw it as full-on unprecedented assault, and was traumatized by it. The lover side of him grew even weaker.

The morning after the memory loss was fixed, Lovi woke up in Feli's arms and completely lost it. Feli was beaten, strangled and thrown into the street to fend for himself, and Lovi, for all intents and purposes, lost consciousness. Rovigno had awoken. He called himself Romano at first, refusing his human side as that is how he saw the other half of himself. He viewed himself as purely a country, and therefore superior. During his first awakening he flirted with women, violently attacked Karkat Vantas, and had a few other choice encounters before finally being knocked out by a rock while he half-drowned at the beginning of the island event.

And then Lovi walked in on Spain kissing Germany. Both sides of Lovi were brutally injured, and Lovi teetered right on the edge of insanity. Not only had he lost the ultimate prize and his own big brother, he was losing it to that same guy who stole his first boyfriend, who also happened to be that guy he'd first fallen in love with when he was a little kid, who'd completely ignored him in favor of Feli. The first of many things Feli had stolen had just stolen the thing Lovi wanted the most. Rovigno came very close to re-awakening, but he clammed him down at the last second and hid the hurt. His lover's side used up a lot of his strength accomplishing that.

Back from the island, Lovi became more and more volatile. He went into mourning; he wouldn't eat or sleep or move, and most of his time he spent hiding under his bed. Vermine invaded his house, and he didn't move. Mice nibbled at his toes, and he didn't move. On the few occasions that Feli convinced him to leave the house, he went right back inside. He discovered that blood triggered Rovigno, as his lover's side would recoil and weaken at the sight. This was truly realized when he got in a brutal fight with Eridan, followed soon after with words written in blood on the walls of his apartment.

The wounds he carried had begun to rot by the time Feli found him, so very far beyond infection, and he went into a coma soon after. During that time he constantly dreamed that he was in a completely empty space, safe for himself and a copy of him; Rovigno. While guitar music quietly played in the background, Rovigno pestered Lovino endlessly about any opening he could find; his relationship, his past, his illnesses, Feli, Spain, Germany, absolutely anything. Lovino shrunk into himself, terrified by the demon inside of him. And Rovigno began planning to break him completely, and take the body completely for himself.

It's a miracle Lovi lasted so long without breaking, actually. While Feli nursed him back to health, he didn't think much, and thus he had no resentment or negative feelings to feed Rovigno with. But finally, it became too much. Lovino broke, and Rovigno was officially free. And now, he drifts through the streets without any real goal, seeking pleasure and entertainment without any real plan in mind.

The thing that would most likely cure Rovigno at this point is finding someone who accepts him. Not who can put up with him, or who is out to cure him, but someone who truly thinks his feelings are acceptable. Who will let him be independent and come back at random intervals to love on his terms. He is like a cat; he goes where food is, provided the door remains open for him. He sits on someone's lap until they've petted him too much, and leaves without another word. Feli has lost his chance, after too much smothering; Rovigno will never be able to love him as anything anymore. That is why Lovino is so broken; he is the part of Romano that wants to be accepted and loved no matter what, the person who wants to please others, while Rovign only wants to be pleased. Both halves of him must be loved equally, before they can merge back together and be one person.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Lovino Vargas (Romano / South Italy)
CANON: Axis Powers Hetalia
CANON REFERENCE: Link~
AGE: 16
GENDER: Male
YEAR IN SCHOOL/FACULTY POSITION: HS3

APPEARANCE: Lovino has copper-brown hair , olive skin and eyes that are currently halfway through the process of turning from green to amber, leaving them in the hazely range. He keeps himself very tidy, to the point where one wouldn't be surprised to learn that the slightly messy look of his hair was carefully planned every morning to make him look as good as possible. However, there is an odd curl that sticks up from his hair and seems to obey neither comb nor gravity; this is a piece of hair he is very protective of, for it has strangely grown much more sensitive than the rest of his hair. Interestingly, anything that touches or yanks on this curl seems to go straight to his groin, and he's usually not all that impressed when that happens.

Lovino takes great care choosing his outfits, and will rarely (if ever) wear anything like T-shirts or shorts. He is most commonly seen in slacks, button-up shirts and fashionable ties. He has a very good eye for fashion, at least; he knows just what will really bring out his eyes, just how to make his clothes fit him perfectly, and exactly which colors go with which. Unfortunately for others, this is information he will never share with anyone else. He wouldn't risk just anyone looking as amazing as he does.
Contrary to the image painted in the above paragraph, Lovi isn't dainty or anything. He's often found with his pants rolled up and his hands covered in dirt, barefoot, and with a few cuts and bruises to go with it. This is a boy who often gets in trouble, so his pretty and fancy clothes rarely stay pretty and fancy for long. His secret is that his clothes are rarely as expensive as they look. May have something to do with how stingy he is.

PERSONALITY: Lovino's personality splits mainly into four parts: Around women, around men, around his brother, and by himself.

Lovino, at his current age, is a very nervous man around women. While he is attracted to them and tries his best to flirt, he is normally brushed off as rude or lacking in self-confidence. He is polite to the best of his ability, and very friendly, but his voice is rough and his language is rough, and he can't really do much about it. He is a chivalrous boy, and knows not to speak harshly to a woman, but he is very straight-forward still and will spit out things that are much better kept in his head. "You look amazing" can quickly mush together into "Damn, your boobs are huge" in the moment of truth. He's also very innocent; despite a raunchy father with raunchier friends, Lovino never quite figured out what happens after kissing, and the concepts that he's been explained about just seem awkward and weird. Ironically, though, he strives for them simply because everyone else seems to. Lovino is... very gullible when it comes to peer pressure.

Around men, though, Lovino is strict and antisocial. His words become harsher, and he frequently swears up a storm in his own special way of displaying bravado. He's prone to making stupid mistakes, insulting people who should never be insulted, and biting off a whole more than he can chew with the thought of proving himself to others in mind. However, he is mostly ineffectual, annoying at the least and getting himself hurt instead of the other at the worst. He has often tried to ruin others' style or pull of random pranks to make himself look superior, which normally just makes him look like an asshole. And when push comes to shove, he will stand only until the first punch flies before he's running for the hills. He is a complete coward, and it's plain for anyone to see that he's only overcompensating his security.

Speaking of security, this is sort of an obsession for Lovino. And the main object of that obsession is his brother, Feliciano. Due to their childhood habit of losing loved ones, Lovino took it upon himself to not get close to his brother. If they never got close, Lovino wouldn't hurt his brother by dying. The problem with this is that his brother loves him very dearly, and they both know this. And despite his plan, Lovino is very much scared of Feliciano growing apart from him. Behind his strict and aggressive front, Lovino is a caring person who keeps his brother safe by any means possible, even if it means getting himself killed.

At the end of the day, the Vargas brothers are much closer to each other than they seem to portray, and Lovino sees Feliciano as his only real friend, the only person really worth his protection. He is the only person Lovino consciously sees as close to him; while he is close to his family and just as willing to protect them, he never really admits it even to himself. Lovino is mostly concerned with trapping Feliciano out and away from the world, having his brother only listen to him and never do anything remotely dangerous. Of course, being the bright and social person that he is, Feliciano will probably never be able to live like that.

As to be expected of such a person, Lovino is a very insecure person, particularly in his head. He was the sort of child who knew the monsters can seep into any crack in his blanket, and would rather suffocate himself than go up for air at night. It's advanced now, and he fears everyone innitially, resulting in his need to puff up his feathers and seem more macho than he could ever be. He's had a disease called choreia (which results in random muscle spasms and clumsiness) since he was little, and he's never told anyone about it nor allowed doctors to tell anyone. Even his family is blissfully unaware of his disease, after all these years. Because of his past experiences he's developed an inferiority complex and abandonement issues, to the point where even in his teenage years he will beg his parents to promise they'll still be alive and at home when he gets back from school. That sort of thing. He feels horrible about himself to the point where even one compliment will make his heart soar for just a moment, until his worry eats it away and preys on the idea that the speaker might not mean it.

Lovino is also highly religion-confused. He was brought up as a straight Catholic, but early involvement in gangs and mafiosi taught him that God isn't exactly just or equal. He is also mostly homosexual; while women are great for flirting and it's "normal" for him to have a girlfriend, he sees men as better for long-term relationships, and he sees them as more attractive. However, this only serves as yet another fear, as he could never imagine gaining approval for such thoughts. He always fears being abnormal; in fact, his religion was chosen because Italy is a primarily Catholic country. He has no real attachment to God, which distresses him, and the fact that he thinks Athiest on the most part makes him feel out of place and abnormal when there's no reason to be. The curl on his head doesn't help; it's a thing only himself and Feliciano have, and he's very protective of it. Mostly because he has a giant rape phobia, and he considers touching his hair to be COMPLETELY INNAPPROPRIATE. Going near it at all normally ends in a kick to the balls or equivalent femal region.

On the Enneagram test, Lovino scores a Type 6, Wing 5: The Defender, at Level 6. In short:
"Basic Fear: Of being without support and guidance
Basic Desire: To have security and support
Key Motivations: Want to have security, to feel supported by others, to have certitude and reassurance, to test the attitudes of others toward them, to fight against anxiety and insecurity.
Level 6: To compensate for insecurities, they become sarcastic and belligerent, blaming others for their problems, taking a tough stance toward "outsiders." Highly reactive and defensive, dividing people into friends and enemies, while looking for threats to their own security. Authoritarian while fearful of authority, highly suspicious, yet, conspiratorial, and fear-instilling to silence their own fears. "

POWERS/ABILITIES: Lovino has two powers: super speed, and super-sonic screams.

Speed: He normally runs up to 10 MPH. However, when in danger or spooked in general, he can tap into a huge pool of adrenaline, letting him run up to 70 MPH just to get away from something. Unfortunately, he has no real control over this other than which direction he runs in; he can't tap into this energy regularly, nor does he really understand that it exists.

Screams: Lovino has the power of audiokinesis; his screams can knock people out, rupture their heartbeat patterns or even kill them. He can blast out windows and possibly walls, and give others migraines. With some improvement, he could also be able to mimic sounds, voices or other such things, but right now he is only able to cause destruction.

As a clarification, neither of these can be triggered under normal conditions. He can scream normally, and run normally, and normally that's all he can do. It is only under the influence of terror that his powers are activated at all. It probably doesn't help that he's in complete denial of both.

AU HISTORY: Lovino never really knew his real parents. He was given to his grandfather at the age of three, along with his one-year-old brother, Feliciano. Although he worked harder for his grandfather's affection, Feliciano seemed to gain it all instead. It made sense; Lovino was a demanding and easily flustered child, while Feliciano was sweet, loving and quiet. Though, unfortunately, this didn't bode well for the younger Vargas brother; they grew up in the rough part of Rome, and Lovino was growing to be much better suited to the streets than Feliciano.

When Lovino was 7 and Feliciano was 5, they and their grandfather were caught in a fight against mafiosi. While their grandpa faught bravely, he was very old and was soon taken down. Mortified that his role model and hero had been killed, Lovino shut his eyes tight and began to scream for all his was worth. It was quickly joined by deeper screams - when Lovino opened his eyes, he saw that the gangsters were running as if beaten, and several crates in the alley had been cracked or broken apart. Feliciano lay next to him, knocked out by the noise. And, while the danger had passed, this only served to frighten Lovino further.

Within the hour, a young man came along through the alley. He was about 14 or 15 at the time, a handsome young man who had just started living on his own recently, and who was happy to help the little boy and his brother out of the wreckage and take them to safety. This man was named Antonio Carrieda. Due to his placement in those events, Lovino began to cling to him emotionally and physically, in his own superiority-based way. Antonio was happy to care for him, and adopted him as a younger brother. However, Feliciano was adopted instead by Antonio's friend of sorts, Roderich Edelstein.

Lovino and Antonio led a happy and simple life together, moving to Antonio's homeland of Spain to work in a tomato field and make just enough money to live comfortably. They were inseperable in those times, and Lovino quickly forgot that Feliciano even existed. All he knew was that there was someone out there he was forgetting about. But that didn't matter much; his big brother was enough for him. Antonio was also the one who taught him about Catholicism/Christianity; he gave Lovino hope that his grandfather was watching him from Heaven. That was a comforting thought. At that time Antonio also had a friend who often visited him, a Belgian girl who Lovino became infatuated with. However, with a 7-year gap between them, this was brushed off as child's play. To this day, he's not completely sure if it was.

Once Lovino entered middle school, though, things changed. After an awkward run-in with a drug dealer, he began more and more frequent run-ins with organized crime. He was a good investment for gangsters; if he was in danger, he got out without a scratch, and he was rough enough around the edges that even while nervous, he could easily perform their tasks. And best of all, he was too afraid of them to do anything against them. However, all he gained confidence in his skills, his speed began to fail him. After a while, he began coming home almost every day with bruises, and refusing to leave again. And Antonio was never told the reason, or if anything, that he'd gotten hurt in pick-up soccer games.
Out of concern, Antonio quickly moved them back to Rome. At that time, Lovino was 14. On his first day of school, while hiding from bullies, he met a 12-year-old named Feliciano. It didn't take them long to realize the truth; this was his long-lost brother. And, while the reunion was awkward and uncomfortable on several levels, they were quick to bond. Neither Antonio nor Roderich could explain it, but the two seemed to immediately match wavelengths, as if they'd never been apart. Not to the naked eye - all they seemed to do was fight, actually - but at a closer glance, they were very sharply protective of each other, and still are.

It was just recently that Antonio chose to find Xavier Institute and contact them. After Lovino ran home at his mutant speed, he was forced to explain his oddities, giving Antonio the opportunity to try another tactic and try to get him away from trouble. Lovino fought it valiantly, fearing that he would be put in a freakshow, seen as abnormal, all of the like. But Antonio's and Feliciano's reassurances were enough to pacify him, long enough to get him into the school at least. The downside of this, however, was that his protective shell of a personality quickly isolated him from them both, further than it had before. He became nigh-unreachable, emotionally speaking, at around this point.

He has been here for about a month. He is prone to skipping classes for no discernable reason, cheating on tests, or just answering questions with snark. All in all, a hell child for any teacher, and one who has little to no actual book-knowledge for the superior front he puts up. However, he stays within the bounds of things that will get him expelled; he's forever scared of disappointing his family.

SAMPLE
1ST PERSON SAMPLE:
Damnit, this is stupid. I don't have any "powers", I'm normal. It's that tomato bastard's fault that I'm here. I'm... [He falters.] I'm only going along with his because he asked me to. It's a favor. One year, tops, and I'm leaving this shithole for good. Maybe in Italia I won't have to be around so many freaks. Alright? [Although by the end of this, he's lost all force to his words.]

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
Antonio didn't have a chance to speak another word. The door to the living room was slammed in his face, and Lovino was storming toward his room. The room that had been his for two years already, the room he'd considered a safe haven that his "friends" from the outside world could never reach. This was a place where Antonio was always nearby, and always willing to get himself hurt in Lovino's name. This was something normal, safe and familiar.

He should never have opened his mouth, he decided. He should have brushed it off like everything else, and pretended it had never happened. All that rose to his head now were horrible memories, things he was sure he'd forgotten in those last seven years. He'd just made himself look like a monster to his big brother; if Antonio knew about his speed, he'd learn about his screams before long, and maybe he'd think there were other things. Yeah, he probably did; why else would he contact a freak-show school?

Lovino inhaled sharply, realizing with a start that he was starting to cry. This was horrible, worse than the cuts and bruises he'd gotten, worse than the threats and insults that rung in his ears, worse than the look of confused fear that shined in Antonio's eyes each time he found those scars and wounds. This was the shock that Antonio knew, Antonio knew his last secret, the one thing he didn't want anyone to ever know about. And he was going to announce it to this stupid school, so they'd encourage it. This was the last shred of normalcy in his life being torn away from him, along with any chance of Antonio or Feliciano accompanying him for the trip. He was being shipped away, because he was different. He was too fucking different, and they no longer wanted to deal with him. Yeah.. that had to be it.

The best word to describe Lovino: Southern Italian. He's got the charming good looks, nice tan, dark reddish-brown hair and amber-brown eyes that used to be green and aren't completely done changing, thus giving them a hazel hue. He also has a permanent scowl. He's usually wearing button-up shirts and slacks or jeans if not in his beige World War II uniform. He has a serious thing against wearing anything that doesn't look at least remotely Italian, so. There's a curl sticking promanently out of the right side of his head, which is in fact not just a thing the artist drew on to look pretty, that's a real thing. And if it's touched, well, it's an erogenous zone. So I wouldn't.

Personality: Remember back in Kindergarten? That kid who never really figured out how to deal with society, so he just shoved it off instead? The one who tried to be tough, but never could be? His name was Lovino Vargas.

Lovino's personality divides between four categories: By himself, around his brother, around men, and around women.

Around women, he is flirtateous and clearly likes to land the center of attention. He's also a derp when it comes to getting affection back, and usually ends up unable to continue if his target reciprocates the action. In layman's terms: ignored, becomes a lady's man in seconds. Offered a kiss, blushes and hides forever. Which makes him pretty lovable until something ticks him off.

Around men, on the other hand, he's pretty much the world's biggest jackass. Since he's afraid of how useless he is in comparison to everyone else, he reacts by putting up the toughest act he can. This involves swearing a lot ("bastard", "allocco", "jackass" and "damn it" being his favorites) and physical violence (kicking shins and lame punches) in some cases. However, since he's nowhere near a level of ability to cope with fights, his attitude often gets him into fights he can't handle and subsequently seeming even more pathetic than he would usually. He developes deep grudges on men who have seen him being weak (only men because women are trustworthy) and often ends up hating people who don't have any idea what they did to deserve it.

His brother, Feliciano/North Italy/Italia Venniciano, is a special exception to all this. Even though Lovino is just as moody around Feliciano, he cares more about his brother than any other person on earth, including himself. Their relationship is closer than most of the other countries, partially because they're siblings while still being the same country, and by human terms being fraternal twins. At least, Lovino thinks it should be that way. Lovino blows up on Feliciano a lot, mostly as a defense mechanism for the fact that Feliciano spends more time around his friends than around Lovino and rarely comes home, and Lovino doesn't know a better way to express his frustration at how little he seems to matter to Feliciano. It's also shown that Lovino is easily depressed by the fact that his brother fails to compliment him when prompted (he can't think of anything himself, either.)

Inside his mind is where Lovino is weakest. As noticable by his inability to keep up bravery of any kind or to make friends, he's developed quite the bit of self-hatred. He's quite aware of how pathetic he is, but it only makes him hate everyone around him more. He's thoroughly convinced everyone laughs at him behind his back, and that it's not truly possible to be trustworthy. He's afraid of anything someone could do to him, and as such shuts himself off from any chance to let someone in other than Feliciano. In truth, he has large abandonment issues and inferiority complexes that he wants no one to know about, and his fears are caused by the anxiety of who could leave him. He fears above all being left by Feliciano, which leads to his outbursts quite often. He's also convinced that God hates him, just a little tidbit he picked up from the mafia way back when. He has yet to find much to convince him otherwise.

He hates hugs and kisses, or at least pretends to, and will not tolerate them unless he's getting them from a woman or if it's from Venneciano when there's no one else around. In any other situation from that, affection is reciprocated by punches, screaming, insults, etc etc etc.

It should also be mentioned that he has a huge phobia against rape and as such is VERY protective about the curl on his head. Even poking it will usually earn the offender a headbutt to the stomach (although his holds true mostly for men, as he's too polite to hurt women). He also seems to express his anger alot with the word "chigi" ("chigigigigi", "chigigigigigigigigigi", etc.) If tugged too hard, well, he'll just collapse in exstacy/pain for a while. People often don't notice that this is an e-zone, and can get huge grudges from Lovi for "touching [him] innappropriately" when they have no idea why.

Powers/Abilities: His lifespan is connected to his country and, similarly, to his brother's. The only way to kill them is by commiting genocide to all Italians in the world, which will effectively kill them both at the same time. If one is alive then the other will have to be as well. However, they can still suffer mortal wounds, and will have to be treated in order to recover from them (since they can't die from such wounds, only pass into a coma). This also means he's literally 1551 years old, and has been around since the birth of the Kingdom of Italy. Otherwise, both brothers are able to tap into seemingly bottomless pits of energy, speed and endurance, but only use it to escape from danger. It's not a conscious thing, they have to be scared shitless before their brain automatically connects to it.
It's mostly become fanon that the Italies can sense each others' life as well. They can tell if the other is weak, or if they've entered a coma, or if the other is missing from the game. Like a limb that they can feel, but not control.
History: His history is the same as that of South Italy.

Damnit, what the hell is going on!?
[The chestnut-haired Italian is glaring at some strange gray-skinned person behind him, before he turns back to the communication device.] Where am I? What country is this? And.. fuck, what time period is this? [He glances around before shouting even louder.] Venneciano! Venneciano, where are you? If you're hurt somewhere I'm gonna kick your ass, damnit!

Lovino was walking the streets again, trying to ignore his current predicament despite the signs of it all around him. He just needed to be out of his house... out of his house, away from that person who thought they knew him, somewhere where he isn't called by that strange name that was most definitely not his. Everything was different, new, weird, foreign, and worst of all he was alone. No one he knew was there. His brother was gone, just like all the other nations. Even ones he hated would be welcome by now.
Darting into an alleyway, he slouched against a wall to drink from a bottle of wine he'd pilfered from his apparent house. It was a bad habit, drinking, but he was Italia fucking Romano. He knew how to hold his drink. Right now, he just wanted to drink everything away. If his life was a fantasy, if his little brother's smiling face was a lie that his mind made up, he wanted to dream again and never wake up. He wanted to black out, to wake up to his brother whining for him to wake up and cook for him. As annoying as that oversized kid was, he was family. Much more than that person living in his "house".
It took three or four bottles, but he found himself waking up in the house again. The worried voice of his housemate did little to quell his feelings, the thought that even drowning his sorrows did nothing. Oh, hello massive hangover. That definitely hadn't worked, but that was only the beginning of it. He wanted his brother, or else hell.

★ Feliciano Vargas

HANGED MAN

RANK:

His stupid lousy goddamn adorable perfect little brother. He came to the city to discover they'd been dating, and from what he's been told he can't be all that proud of the relationship. They've both grown up a lot in the city, but he gets the feeling Feli learned a lot more. Lovi is starting to learn that he's growing backward while Feli moves forward, and now Feli is taking care of him for all intents and purposes.

★ Kanetsugu Naoe

TEMPERANCE

RANK:

Their relationship isn't close, but it's there. Kanetsugu shares the problem with all of Feliciano's friends that Lovino is too jealous of his brother to work at any type of friendship. However, they have talked calmly more than once, and that's something few people can say.

★ Terezi Pyrope

JUSTICE

RANK:

They share common interests such as the color red and drawing despite a complete lack of drawing abilities. He hasn't actually found out that she's blind yet. Since she helped him with his relationship troubles, he is in her debt. However, since her counseling ended in him losing his boyfriend and gaining a hesitant love interest and a jealous brother, he still finds good reason not to trust her. It also confuses him that she's an alien and apparently six years old. All the same, there may be a friendship starting here.

★ Germany / Teddesco

HANGED MAN

RANK:

He still considers Tedde to be his best friend, even if they don't talk much anymore. Tedde helped him get better when he half-drownede in the ocean, and he respects the idiot for that. Still, there are a lot of things they have yet to talk about.
